Sweet, flourless and sugar free snacks ideas

Here we are…welcoming another new year with hope, energy and lots of enthusiasm. Have you already set your intentions for the new year? What are you hoping to achieve? How are you going to do that? How about making healthy food choices to support a healthier and happier life? You can always refer to my previous posts for some inspiration 😉

How about you start with eating less sugar? I know it’s not always easy, sugar is everywhere, but reducing the consumption of sugar can have many health benefits. Eating lots of added and refined sugars leads to inflammations, weight gain, it lowers energy levels and gives you headaches. Eating less added sugar reduces inflammation and lowers the risk of diabetes, it improves your oral health and your skin will look much better.

There are also a couple of natural sweeteners that provide health benefits, such as stevia, maple syrup, molasses or honey, which can replace the actual sugar. In this post I will share with you two recipes of sweet snacks where I replaced sugar with maple syrup, and the result is really fantastic. What I love about these recipes is that they are easy to make, they are ready in no time, you don’t need too many ingredients and they are really tasty.  For both recipes you’ll need well ripe bananas, dark chocolate chips, maple syrup and oats.

Let’s start with the banana cookies 😊

This is what you need:

One well ripe banana, which you will peel and crash. One tbs of crunchy peanut butter, 2-3 tbs of oats (you need to check the texture of your mix: if it’s too soft, you may need to add more oats). The mix is already sweet from the banana, but you can add one tbs of maple syrup to make it sweeter. At the end add one tbs of dark chocolate chips. Place the mix on a trey, shape your cookies and let them bake for about 20 minutes in the preheated oven. I always preheat my oven 10-15 minutes before at about 200°C. That’s it, they are ready in no time and they are absolutely delicious and filling.

Sugar free banana bread

Lately, I enjoy more and more having this banana bread for breakfast, but it’s great as a snack, too. Also, if you don’t tolerate gluten, this recipe is great because is made with oats flour and it doesn’t contain gluten.

This is what you need:

Three well ripe bananas, which you will peel and crash. Add three eggs, 150 g of oat flour, 4-5 tbs of maple syrup (depending how sweet you like it), 1 tbs of baking powder. Mix it all together and place the mix in a cake mold. Decorate it with chocolate chips or nuts ( I usually use dark chocolate chips). Place your cake mold into the preheated oven and let it bake for about 30 mins or until it passes the tooth pick test.

These snacks are delicious, they are nutritious, filling and easy to make. Enjoy 😊
